Archie's first birthday

Last week we celebrated our son Archie’s first birthday, but it was kind of a joint celebration really with mummy and daddy were silently fist pumping actually making it through that huge first year. It’s so true what people say, the first year being parents feels like the days are long but the year is so, so short!

We had a team of amazing talents on board to help us deliver the perfect day for our little boy. It was filled with all the special treats in life for a child, ice cream with sprinkles, donuts and baby animals! The sun was shining bright and we had the perfect location set up at The Stables of Como. It was truly a magical day spent with the people who mean the most to us and we couldn’t have wished for anything more. Kelly Jordan Photography captured everything for us and we are excited to share the details of the event with you.

The theme we decide on was a farmers theme, so The Stables of Como and their beautiful gardens was the perfect backdrop. LoveJk worked together with illustrator Tori Benz to custom design some animal illustrations for the invites and decorations. Gene and Peta took care of all the detailed styling. My brief to the girls was muted but magical. I didn’t want anything bright or over the top, just really delicate and special. The girls went above and beyond to ensure all the finer details were perfect. From party hats on animals to leaves letter pressed with Archie’s name, everywhere you looked there was detailed perfection.

When it comes to styling homes, parties, photoshoots etc I think greenery is essential. Read earth flowers put together some beautiful arrangements the really completed the muted/magical feel I was wanting to create. The Stables have a beautiful raked ceiling that is perfect for draping greenery. Little vases of flowers finished off the styling and added to the farmers/woodland theme. It felt extremely warm and welcoming even though we didn’t use colour.

What is a kids birthday without sugar and sweets! We decided to not provide savoury foods but to make it a sweet affair. The Stables of Como have amazing sweet cart packages and we chose freshly made donuts, ice cream and fruit cups for the kids (and adults) and beautiful mini desserts were served by the wait staff. The lolly cart by The Mini Party People was to die for! A beautiful arrangement of treats and together with the styling and decorations from The Party Parlor proved to be a favourite with all the little people!

A close girlfriend of mine has started to fuel her creative juices by baking these absolutely stunning cakes. By day she is project manager but she bakes at night. Her cakes are stunning and you should really check out her Instagram, so beautiful put together! She went for a rustic look with a timber cake topper and earthy blooms. It fit the theme perfectly!
