As the days get longer and the temperatures get warmer, it seems as though summer might (finally!) be in sight! While this is cause for celebration, there is still that tricky season called spring to get through, where you are never sure from one day to the next if you can put your coat away or if pulling out your favourite sandals was maybe a little bit eager.
Luckily, there is a simple and stylish solution to surviving this fickle weather, and that is of course layering. This genius fashion trick has saved me on many occasions and is one I turn to again and again. There are many ways to interpret and wear this style but these are a few of my faves currently doing the rounds on Pinterest.
What I love about these looks is that depending on the weather, the outfits will still work should none or all of the layers be needed.
When it comes to trying this style solution out yourself, my suggestion is to start with the basics and work your way up, relying on accessories to add the glam to your outfit. You want the pieces you have chosen to work together rather than compete with each other.
In the look I've created, I started with some ripped white skinnies from Frankie and Co and paired this with a chambray shirt from Seed. The black cardigan is a classic Witchery number and the leather biker jacket is from French Connection. I've been seeing a lot of gyspy style necklaces lately and love this one from Sportsgirl. These open toe booties are from Joanne Mercer and to me are the perfect shoe to take you from winter to summer and back again.
Hopefully this outfit gives you some inspiration as to how layering might work for you. We'd love to see the looks you come up with so use #layeringwithbec the next time you head out and we'll feature some of our favourite looks.
